Emily Geurts Leads Fighting Saints Golf to Sixth-Place Finish at St. Viator Invite
The St. Charles East girls golf team turned in a 379 to earn sixth place in a nine-team field Monday at the St. Viator Invite in Itasca. Emily Geurts led the Fighting Saints with an 80, providing the team's low round and setting the pace during a day filled with strong golf throughout the course.
Pleasant late-summer conditions gave the Saints a steady setting in which to navigate the course, settle into their rounds and compete against a deep invitational. The round anchored the Saints' team total and helped them secure a finish in the upper two-thirds of the standings. In an invitational format where every counting shot matters, that leading score gave St. Charles East an important foundation.
A sixth-place result against nine teams gives the Fighting Saints another tournament performance to build on as the season moves forward. The 379 team total highlighted a positive day for St. Charles East, with the Saints gaining valuable invitational experience in a competitive field.
