Fighting Saints blank Glenbard North 8-0 behind Van Dinther, balanced bats

Darren Howard | St Charles East High School | Apr 15, 2026

St. Charles East kept its strong stretch rolling Monday night, shutting out Glenbard North 8-0 in Carol Stream behind steady pitching from Van Dinther, a clean relief finish from Hannah Wulf, and a lineup that produced big swings throughout the game.

The decisive tone came from the circle and carried through the dugout. Van Dinther set the pace early, and Wulf closed it out in relief as the Fighting Saints never allowed Glenbard North to build any momentum. It was another confident performance for a St. Charles East team that has been stacking quality outings, especially in the circle, and Monday's result showed that same formula again, timely hitting, solid defense and shutdown pitching.

At the plate, the Saints got production up and down the order. LaRose, Beers and Maple each turned in multiple-hit games and each drove in runs, giving St. Charles East the kind of balanced attack that is difficult to contain. Hayden Sujack added the loudest swing of the night with a home run, another standout moment for an offense that continues to come through with extra-base punch.

Even without detailed inning-by-inning notes, the game summary made the story clear. The Saints controlled the matchup from start to finish and paired run support with airtight work in the field and circle. That all-around effort fit the tone of the program's recent results, including earlier wins fueled by strong pitching and timely home runs, and it gave the Fighting Saints another reason for confidence as the season moves forward.

Monday's nonconference win also gave St. Charles East momentum heading straight into its next test. The Fighting Saints are scheduled to return to the field Tuesday at Kaneland, carrying another shutout victory, another powerful offensive performance and the kind of team-first effort that has become a hallmark of this group.
