Fighting Saints complete another program sweep with 14-1 varsity win at South Elgin

St. Charles East kept its strong start rolling Thursday night, and the Fighting Saints left South Elgin with another full program celebration. The varsity team powered past the Red Storm 14-1, while both JV and JV2 turned in perfect 15-0 sweeps to complete a dominant road performance at South Elgin High School.

For the Saints, the headline was simple and impressive. Winning 14 of 15 varsity matches showed control across the lineup, and the clean sweeps from the lower levels underscored the depth of the program. It was the second straight road victory for St. Charles East, which also earned a program sweep earlier in the week against Elgin.

The varsity result gave the Saints the kind of all-around showing that teams build confidence from early in the season. In badminton, every singles and doubles point matters in shaping the final margin, and St. Charles East consistently won those key spots Thursday. The team set the tone quickly and never gave South Elgin much room to rally, turning the match into another showcase of steady play and lineup balance.

Just as encouraging for the Saints was what happened beyond the varsity court. JV and JV2 each posted 15-0 shutouts, a reflection of a program getting contributions throughout the roster. Those results added even more energy to a night that featured strength at every level and gave St. Charles East plenty to celebrate on the trip home.

With back-to-back program sweeps over Elgin and South Elgin, the Fighting Saints have created early momentum and a clear sense of pride around the team. St. Charles East will look to carry that form into its next match April 6, when the Saints return home to face Oswego High School.
