Fighting Saints Dominate Harlem Huskies in 67-33 Home Victory

St. Charles East made the most of its home floor Monday night, using a stifling defensive effort and balanced scoring attack to roll past Harlem 67-33 at St. Charles East Main Gym.

The Fighting Saints seized control early, setting the tone with defensive pressure that limited the Huskies’ clean looks and forced rushed possessions. St. Charles East pushed the pace off turnovers and long rebounds, turning stops into transition points to build a comfortable lead by halftime. With the offense clicking inside and out, the Saints steadily widened the margin and never allowed Harlem to mount a sustained run.

Out of the break, the Saints continued to separate thanks to a decisive third-quarter stretch in which their defense again led the way. Hands in passing lanes and strong help rotations disrupted Harlem’s sets, while quick outlet passes jump-started fast breaks. The Huskies struggled to match the Saints’ tempo, and repeated scoring bursts out of timeouts put the game firmly out of reach heading into the final period.

On the offensive end, St. Charles East showed strong balance, with multiple players contributing in double figures and key role players chipping in on the glass and in ball movement. The Saints’ guards controlled tempo, attacked closeouts and found cutters, while the frontcourt finished around the rim and limited Harlem to one shot on most trips. Second-chance points and hustle plays further tilted momentum toward the home side.

Defensively, the Saints’ performance was the defining element of the win. Rotations were sharp, closeouts were disciplined and communication kept Harlem from finding any rhythm. The Huskies were held to 33 points, with St. Charles East consistently contesting perimeter attempts and walling off drives in the lane. The ability to string together multiple stops at key points allowed the Saints to stretch the lead and keep control throughout.

With the convincing home victory behind them, the Fighting Saints now turn quickly to the road, heading to Neuqua Valley for a nonconference matchup. Riding momentum from a dominant effort on both ends of the floor, St. Charles East looks to carry its defensive intensity and balanced scoring into the next challenge away from home.
