Fighting Saints pour in 11 first-half goals in rout of Glenbard North

Darren Howard | St Charles East High School | May 13, 2026

St. Charles East wasted no time turning Wednesday night into a showcase, scoring 11 times in the first half to roll past Glenbard North 11-0 in Carol Stream. The decisive tone was set early and never changed, as Mya Leon opened the scoring at the 34:32 mark and the Fighting Saints kept pressing until the final goal of the half from Anika Dodrill with 4:45 left.

Leon led the surge with four goals and an assist, giving St. Charles East a constant spark in the attacking third. Sophia Wollenberg added two goals, including a penalty kick, while Tatum Smith, Georggia Desario, Leah Arroyo, Erini Vardalos and Dodrill each found the net once. The Saints also shared the ball at a high level, with Qori Strotkamp delivering four assists in a standout playmaking performance.

The scoring came in waves. After Leon struck first off a Strotkamp assist, Smith scored just 1 minute, 32 seconds later off a setup from Leon. Wollenberg made it 3-0 at 31:04 on an assist from Dodrill, and Leon added her second at 28:43 from Averie Foulkes. Wollenberg converted a penalty kick 43 seconds later, then Desario scored at 26:30 off a Reese Kyle assist as the lead kept growing.

St. Charles East continued to pile on with Arroyo finishing a Strotkamp feed at 23:11, followed by two more Leon goals at 19:41 and 17:51, assisted by JJ Silverberg and Strotkamp. Vardalos added another at 10:59, again from Strotkamp, before Dodrill capped the half with a goal off an assist from Arroyo. It was the kind of relentless, connected performance that reflected both the Saints' depth and their sharpness in front of goal.

On the back end, Mia Olenek handled the clean sheet in goal, playing 40 minutes and facing little danger as the Saints controlled possession throughout. She was not called on for a save, but the defensive group in front of her kept Glenbard North from generating any real momentum. With the win, St. Charles East moved to 17-0-5 overall and 4-0-2 in conference play, another emphatic result for a team that continues to show why it has been one of the area's most dangerous sides this spring.
