Fighting Saints Rally Past Lancers for Three-Set Victory

E HS | St Charles East High School | Oct 8, 2026

SAINT CHARLES, Ill. - The St. Charles East girls varsity volleyball team earned a huge conference victory Tuesday night as they rallied from a one-set deficit and an early seven-point hole in the second set to defeat the Lake Park Lancers 2-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-16).

After dropping the opening set, the Saints faced another challenge when the Lancers jumped ahead 8-1 in the second. St. Charles East answered with a sustained comeback, outscoring the Lancers 24-11 from that point to claim the set 25-19. The turnaround erased the early deficit and sent the match into a deciding third set.

The Saints carried that momentum into the finale, opening strong and maintaining control on the way to a 25-16 victory. After having to chase the score in the second set, St. Charles East delivered a more commanding finish in the third to secure the comeback.

Outside hitter Emma Phillips delivered 12 kills, eight digs and an ace. Scarlett Dickerson added 10 kills and a dig, giving the Saints another productive attacking option. Setter Franki Fevold supplied 19 assists while also contributing 12 digs, four kills, two blocks and two aces, making an impact well beyond directing the offense.

At the net, Nora Lange recorded four blocks, two kills, a dig and two aces. Mackenzie Finn added two kills, two blocks, a dig and an assist. The back row and service line also provided valuable contributions: Libero Gianna Gjokaj finished with four aces, five digs and four assists, Gianna Marziani-Radomski collected seven digs, and Rachel O'Sullivan added four digs and two aces.

The varsity comeback completed a program-wide sweep against the Lancers, with every lower-level team also earning a victory. The Fighting Saints are back in action at home this Saturday as they get set to host the 2026 STCE Volleyball Invitational.
