Fighting Saints roll past Batavia 10-0 on Senior Night
The Fighting Saints gave Senior Night a fitting finish Monday, beating Batavia 10-0 at St. Charles East behind another dominant performance in the circle and a lineup that kept producing loud contact. The decisive tone came early and never really changed, as St. Charles East paired shutdown pitching from Hannah Wulf and Van Dinther with extra-base power and timely run production to close out a convincing home win over the Bulldogs.
The Saints' game summary was simple and emphatic: control the game in the circle, pressure Batavia throughout the lineup, and turn Senior Night into a celebration. Wulf and Van Dinther continued to dominate on the mound, combining to keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard. That effort set the stage for an offense that had contributions up and down the order and never let Batavia settle in.
Among the standout performances, Majkszak delivered three RBIs to help pace the attack. Beers put together a huge night at the plate with three hits, including a home run, while Maple also went deep. Van Dinther added to her pitching impact with two hits and two runs scored, showing up in every phase of the game. Moline added to the pressure as well, driving in one run and scoring twice as the Saints kept finding ways to turn baserunners into offense.
The Saints' power swings created separation, the run production with runners aboard kept building the margin, and the staff in the circle never gave Batavia an opening to answer. That combination of clean pitching, productive at-bats and dependable defense made this one feel firmly in the Saints' hands as the night moved along.
It was another strong reminder of the form St. Charles East is carrying into the postseason. The Saints have stacked quality performances all spring, and Monday's Senior Night result added another one to the list with energy, execution and plenty for the home crowd to cheer. Next up is a trip to Burlington Central as the Saints continue preparing for next week's IHSA Regional, which will be hosted at East.
