Fighting Saints roll past Larkin 9-0 behind four-goal night from Mya Leon
St. Charles East wasted little time taking control Saturday night, then kept pouring on goals in a 9-0 road win over Larkin that ended after 70 minutes. The Fighting Saints led 3-0 at halftime and turned the match into a showcase of finishing and playmaking, with Mya Leon delivering the decisive spark early and never letting the Royals settle in.
Leon opened the scoring at the 25:05 mark of the first half off an assist from Anika Dodrill. Less than five minutes later, Leon set up Lilli Margewich for another goal at 20:44, and the Saints carried that momentum through the rest of the half. Leon struck again at 36:37, this time on an assist from Liv Richardson, giving St. Charles East a three-goal cushion by the break.
The second half was even more one-sided. Margewich scored again at 9:44 off another Leon assist, then Dodrill found the net twice, first on a helper from Qori Strotkamp at 25:04 and again off a Leon assist at 23:51. Strotkamp added a goal of her own at 21:55, finishing a chance created by Dodrill as the Saints continued to stretch the field and finish chances cleanly.
Leon capped a huge night with two more goals in the final stretch. She scored once off a Strotkamp assist, then completed her four-goal performance with 7:00 remaining on an assist from Margewich. Leon was involved throughout the attack, scoring four times and adding three assists, while Margewich finished with two goals and an assist. Dodrill added two goals and two assists, and Strotkamp contributed a goal and two assists in a balanced, relentless offensive effort.
Behind that attacking surge, the Saints were just as sharp defensively. Goalkeeper Mia Olenek played all 70 minutes and made one save to preserve the shutout. With the victory, St. Charles East moved to 7-0-1 overall, another strong step for a Fighting Saints squad that continues to build confidence and momentum with every match.
