Plainfield East struck first at 25:55 of the opening half and carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime. The Fighting Saints stayed composed despite the early setback, keeping the margin at one goal and positioning themselves to change the match after the break. Goalkeeper Jason Striegel played all 80 minutes, making three saves and allowing only the first-half goal.
The response began when Sam Arville converted a penalty kick at 27:16 of the second half, pulling the Fighting Saints even at 1-1.
