Fighting Saints Soccer Tops Glenbard North 3-1 Behind Arville’s Decisive Free Kick

SAINT CHARLES, Ill. - St. Charles East earned a 3-1 conference victory over Glenbard North on Tuesday, with Sam Arville’s first-half free kick standing as the decisive goal before Huxley Kapoor sealed the result late. The Fighting Saints improved to 7-2 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play at 2-0.

Will Wade opened the scoring with 23:45 remaining in the first half, finishing a chance created by Arville to put St. Charles East in front. Just 1:38 later, Arville stepped over a free kick and converted it to double the lead. His goal proved especially important after Glenbard North answered at the 14:40 mark, trimming the Saints’ halftime advantage to 2-1.

St. Charles East protected that one-goal margin throughout most of the second half. The Saints stayed organized defensively, limited Glenbard North’s opportunities and kept the visitors from finding an equalizer. Goalkeeper Jason Striegel played all 80 minutes, making two saves and allowing only the first-half goal.

With 4:18 remaining, Kapoor delivered the clinching goal. Aidan Richbell provided the assist, and Kapoor’s finish gave the Fighting Saints breathing room at 3-1. The late combination rewarded a complete team effort that featured three different goal scorers, two assisted goals and a steady defensive performance after halftime.
