St. Charles East captured the IHSA Regional Championship on Friday afternoon, beating Schaumburg 3-1 behind one decisive swing and a commanding performance in the circle. Emily Moline delivered the game’s biggest moment with a three-run home run, and Hannah Wulf made it stand up by spinning a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts at St. Charles East.

The Fighting Saints seized control with Moline’s blast, which accounted for all three of the team’s runs in a championship setting where every plate appearance carried extra weight. In a tightly played game, that swing gave St. Charles East the separation it needed and energized the home side on an overcast, breezy afternoon.

From there, Wulf took over. The Saints pitcher kept Schaumburg from building sustained offense, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out 10. Her work in the circle set the tone all game, mixing command and poise as St. Charles East protected its lead inning by inning.

The 3-1 finish reflected the kind of clean, pressure-tested softball that often decides postseason games. St. Charles East got the timely hit it needed, received a winning outing from Wulf, and backed that effort with the steady defensive play required to close out a regional final.

With the victory, the Fighting Saints added a championship to their season and earned the right to keep playing. St. Charles East now advances to the IHSA Sectional next week, carrying momentum after a title performance built on power, pitching and composure.
