Fighting Saints Sweep Glenbard North for Conference Victory

St. Charles East delivered a complete performance Tuesday evening, sweeping Glenbard North 25-6, 25-14 for a 2-0 DuKane Conference victory at home. The Fighting Saints established control with a commanding opening set, then answered a stronger challenge in the second to finish the match in straight sets.
A sharp service attack powered the Saints throughout the match. Setter Tessa Schneider recorded 7 aces to go with 7 assists, 1 kill and 1 dig. Setter Franki Fevold added 4 aces of her own while distributing 15 assists and racking up 5 digs and 2 kills on the night. Libero Gianna Gjokaj made her own mark on the match with 1 ace and 7 digs including a remarkable pancake diving save which sparked the Saints early on in the first set.
St. Charles East paired that service pressure with a balanced attack at the net. Outside Hitter Emma Phillips led the hitting effort with 10 kills and added 1 block. Scarlett Dickerson put down 6 kills and collected 5 digs, and 1 ace giving the Saints another productive option on the outside.
That distribution showed in the final stat sheet, as eight different Fighting Saints recorded at least one kill. Kate Fitzgerald collected 2 kills and 1 block, Nora Lange supplied 2 kills, Stella Trask finished with 1 kill and 1 dig, and Mackenzie Finn added a kill.
The Saints’ work at the net complemented their serving and ball distribution helping St. Charles East limit Glenbard North to six points in the first set. Glenbard North raised its production in the second, but the Saints maintained their balance and closed out the 25-14 decision to secure the conference sweep. The successful night extended across the East volleyball program, as every lower-level team also won in two sets to complete a second consecutive full program sweep.
St. Charles East will return home for its next scheduled match against West Chicago on Thursday Sept. 17 at 5:30pm. The Fighting Saints will look to carry forward the balanced hitting, aggressive serving and team-wide contributions that highlighted Tuesday’s victory.
