Fighting Saints Sweep West Chicago on Staff Appreciation Night

St. Charles East gave its favorite teachers plenty to celebrate Thursday night, sweeping West Chicago 2-0 on staff appreciation night. The Fighting Saints earned a 25-16, 25-8 victory at home, combining a balanced attack with strong serving and timely work at the net.

The opening set was tight in the early stages as the teams traded points and battled for control. East soon found its rhythm, creating separation behind steady passing and a productive attack. Outside hitter Emma Phillips helped drive that surge on the way to a match-high 12 kills, and the Saints pulled away for a 25-16 win.

East came out firing on all cylinders in the second set. Middle Nora Lange delivered the match's defining stretch with a 10-point service run, putting West Chicago under sustained pressure and helping the Saints build a commanding advantage. East carried that momentum through the finish, closing the sweep with a decisive 25-8 victory.

Lange filled the stat sheet with two kills, three blocks, two assists, two digs and three aces. Setter Franki Fevold directed the offense with 16 assists while adding three kills and four digs. Outside Hitter Scarlett Dickerson supplied six kills and one ace, while libero Gianna Gjokaj contributed four digs and three aces. Setter Tessa Schneider added five assists and three aces of her own. Those contributions gave the Saints production across the rotation. The celebration extended across the East volleyball program, as every lower-level team won in two sets to complete a third consecutive full program sweep.

The straight-set win provided a spirited finish to a special evening celebrating St. Charles East staff members and the teachers who support the players beyond the court. The Fighting Saints will next travel to Wheaton North Tuesday Sept. 22nd for a DuKane Conference matchup!
