Fighting Saints Sweep Willowbrook 2-0 Behind Balanced Attack

St. Charles East bounced back in convincing fashion Thursday, sweeping Willowbrook 25-14, 25-14 in a nonconference match at home. The Fighting Saints delivered the same decisive margin in both sets, earning a 2-0 victory and improving to 7-3 overall.

The Saints established their attack in the opening set and maintained that steady pressure throughout the match. St. Charles East spread the offense across seven different players, forcing Willowbrook to account for threats at both pins and through the middle. After taking the first set 25-14, the Saints answered with another composed performance and closed the second set by an identical score.

Emma Phillips led the balanced attack with seven kills while contributing in every phase. Phillips also finished with six digs, two blocks and two aces, giving St. Charles East a spark at the net, behind the service line and in the back row. Scarlett Dickerson added five kills to help the Saints consistently turn defensive stops into points.

Setter Franki Fevold directed the offense with 18 assists and added three kills and one dig. Her distribution helped create opportunities throughout the lineup. Mackenzie Finn recorded three kills, while Tessa Schneider supplied two kills and one dig from the right side.

Nora Lange strengthened the Saints' work in the middle with two kills, two blocks and two digs. Combined with Phillips' two blocks, that presence helped St. Charles East challenge Willowbrook at the net. The Saints' mix of efficient attacking, blocking, serving and floor defense produced an encouraging all-around response.

The successful night extended across the St. Charles East program, as every lower-level team also won in two sets to complete a full program sweep. The Varsity Saints will return home to face Glenbard North in a DuKane Conference Match at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026.
