Patel Advances to State With Seventh-Place Finish at IHSA Boys Golf Sectional
SAINT CHARLES, Ill. - St Charles East High School sent three golfers to the IHSA Sectional on Monday, October 5, in Elgin, with Aarnav Patel leading The Saints by shooting a 75 and finishing seventh. Patel earned a place in the IHSA State Final, giving the Saints a state qualifier to celebrate after their sectional appearance.
Patel recorded the Saints’ lowest score of the tournament, finishing seven strokes ahead of teammate Ashton Glisson and 10 ahead of Luke Donaldson. The seventh-place finish extended Patel’s postseason into the final weekend of competition. With advancement secured, Patel will represent the Saints at the state final this weekend.
Glisson finished 40th with an 82, while Donaldson placed 45th after posting an 85. Just three strokes separated their rounds. Both joined Patel in representing the Saints at the sectional, bringing the program’s group of individual competitors to three as they took on the next stage of the IHSA postseason.
The sectional began at 9:30 a.m. under clear skies, with a temperature of 59 degrees and winds of 5 mph. The day concluded with individual finishes of seventh, 40th and 45th for the Saints, highlighted by Patel’s qualifying round.
