Saints Boys Golf Finish Fourth at IHSA Regional, Send Three Golfers to Sectionals
SAINT CHARLES, Ill. - St Charles East High School shot a team total of 325 to finish fourth at the IHSA Regional on Wednesday, September 30, in Aurora, missing team advancement by just one stroke. Ashton Glisson led the Saints with a 74, while Aarnav Patel and Luke Donaldson also earned individual berths in the sectional round.
The Saints competed on a difficult course with rain a factor throughout the day. Light rain and a temperature of 61 degrees at the 9 a.m. start provided a challenging setting for a regional in which a single stroke ultimately separated the Saints from advancing together.
Glisson’s 74 was the low score for the Saints and anchored their team total. The round also secured a chance to continue competing in the postseason. With the team finishing just outside the advancement threshold, that individual qualification gave the Saints an achievement to celebrate alongside the disappointment of the narrow team result.
Patel followed with an 80, and Donaldson carded an 83 to join Glisson as sectional qualifiers. Their three rounds totaled 237 strokes, contributing the bulk of the Saints’ 325. Each earned a place in the next round despite the wet conditions that persisted throughout the regional.
Although the team’s advancement bid ended in Aurora, three Saints will carry the program into the sectional round. The Saints will look to bounce back in their next contest on Monday, October 5, with Glisson, Patel and Donaldson competing as individual qualifiers.
