St. Charles East turned a complete performance into a 26-0 victory over Lincoln-Way Central, earning a split in Saturday’s tri meet in New Lenox. The Saints complemented an explosive offensive effort with a shutout defense, and Ari Bigda delivered the signature play by returning an interception for a touchdown. The Saints also fell 38-0 to Homewood-Flossmoor during the two-game event.
Ari Bigda made an impact in every phase of the win over Lincoln-Way Central. She threw for 200 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 130 yards and another score, then helped the defense put points on the board with the interception return. Her 330 combined passing and rushing yards kept the Saints moving while her defensive touchdown helped turn a strong performance into a convincing shutout.
Morgan Long provided the leading contribution in the receiving game, finishing with 107 yards and a touchdown. Long’s ability to create production through the air gave St. Charles East a dependable target and accounted for more than half of the Saints’ passing yardage. Together, Long and Ari Bigda supplied the central connection in a balanced attack that produced four scores.
The Saints’ defense matched that offensive production with a clean sheet. In addition to Ari Bigda’s interception return, St. Charles East kept Lincoln-Way Central off the scoreboard throughout the game. That collective effort gave the Saints room to control the result and complete a 26-point victory, providing a strong example of what the team can accomplish when its offense and defense contribute together.
Homewood-Flossmoor answered with a 38-0 victory in the Saints’ other game, leaving St. Charles East with a 1-1 record from the tri meet. Even with the second result, the Saints left New Lenox with a shutout win, a 300-yard individual offensive performance, a 100-yard receiver and a defensive touchdown to build upon.
St. Charles East now heads back on the road to face South Elgin on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, at 5 p.m. CDT. The quick turnaround gives the Saints another chance to carry the energy, defensive pressure and big-play connection from their 26-0 victory into the next matchup.
