Saints GCC Win Kane Cty Invite as Adley Wilson Claims Individual Crown
St. Charles East opened the season with a championship performance Saturday, Aug. 29, as The Saints girls cross country team won the Kane County Invite with 53 points. The Saints edged runner-up Yorkville by six points, while Adley Wilson completed the team celebration by winning the individual championship.
With Yorkville finishing at 59 points, every place in the scoring lineup mattered. St. Charles East paired its victory at the front of the race with enough depth throughout the scoring group to secure the team trophy. That six-point difference reflected the value of competing together and limiting gaps between runners.
The Saints’ 53-point total highlighted the importance of pack running in a close championship race. Adley Wilson set the pace with the individual win, and the rest of the lineup supplied the placements needed to hold off Yorkville. In a sport where the lowest team score wins, St. Charles East’s collective effort proved decisive.
