Saints VB Sweep Neuqua Valley Wildcats 2-0 in Season Opener

The Saints started the season in winning fashion Tuesday, Aug. 25, sweeping the Neuqua Valley Wildcats 2-0 in Naperville. The straight-set road victory moved Saints Girls Volleyball to 1-0 and provided an immediate boost for a program eager to establish momentum at the beginning of the new campaign.

St Charles East captured the opening set and maintained its winning form in the second. The Saints closed out the Wildcats before the match could reach a deciding third set, turning their first road test into a complete two-set victory. Each finished set brought the Saints closer to the result, and their ability to secure the final points in both frames proved decisive.

The victory also marked an important milestone on the Saints’ sideline. It was the first girls varsity win for co-head coaches Jessa Henry and Matt Caputo, giving the new leadership tandem a memorable opening chapter. Earning that first victory through a road sweep made the occasion even sweeter for the coaches and players.

Success extended throughout much of the St Charles East program. The sophomore team also earned a victory, while the freshmen A and B teams completed wins of their own. The junior varsity Saints fell short but battled the Wildcats and delivered an encouraging performance. With four levels collecting victories and JV competing hard, the trip reflected the depth, effort and enthusiasm surrounding Saints volleyball.

The Saints are excited to bring that energy back to Saints Country for their Thursday, Aug. 27, home opener against Larkin. giving the Saints a chance to compete in front of their home fans.
