St. Charles Co-Op Claims Third Straight IHSA Regional Gymnastics Title

PALATINE, Ill. — The St. Charles East/St. Charles North co-op continued its postseason dominance Thursday night, capturing its third consecutive IHSA regional title at Fremd’s campus and advancing to next week’s sectional round.
The co-op squad delivered one of its most balanced efforts of the season, using steady rotations on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise to outpace the regional field and secure the championship. While full event-by-event scores were not immediately available, the team stacked top-three finishes across multiple apparatuses and posted the most complete team total of the night to extend a regional title streak that now spans three seasons.
Vault set the early tone as the lineup hit cleanly to establish an initial cushion in the standings. Strong amplitude, controlled landings and minimal deductions allowed the team to stay in front of the pack. That momentum carried into uneven bars, where the co-op’s combination of aggressive release moves and solid handstands helped offset the difficulty of the event and kept the team firmly in contention for the title at the midway point of the meet.
The decisive stretch came on balance beam, traditionally one of the most pressure-filled rotations in high school gymnastics. St. Charles met that challenge with poise, staying on the apparatus and avoiding major breaks that have derailed past postseasons for many teams. Confident series connections, precise footwork and secure dismounts turned beam into a strength, rather than a liability, and helped solidify the team’s lead heading into the final rotation.
On floor exercise, the co-op closed the meet with the energy expected of a defending regional champion. Dynamic tumbling passes, clean dance elements and strong presentation drew some of the higher scores of the night and effectively sealed the championship. The team’s depth on floor, with multiple gymnasts capable of posting lineup-driving scores, proved crucial in holding off a competitive field and finishing the meet with separation on the scoreboard.
The regional crown sends the team back to the IHSA sectional stage, where the co-op will look to build on its three-year run of postseason success. With a proven ability to hit under pressure and a lineup that has now delivered another title in a high-stakes environment, St. Charles East and St. Charles North’s shared program enters sectionals with momentum and a clear path to contend for additional hardware.
