St. Charles East blanks DePaul Prep 3-0 behind fast start and another shutout from Mia Olenek

Darren Howard | St Charles East High School | Mar 25, 2026

St. Charles East kept its strong start to the season rolling Wednesday, shutting out DePaul Prep 3-0 in Rose Augsburg Drach Invitational Game 2 at home. The Fighting Saints struck twice in the first half, added another after the break and never let DePaul Prep gain traction on a partly cloudy afternoon in St. Charles.

The decisive tone was set early by Qori Strotkamp, who opened the scoring at 10:44. That breakthrough gave the Fighting Saints control, and the lead doubled later in the half when Mya Leon finished a chance with 7:09 left before halftime off an assist from Anika Dodrill. By the break, St. Charles East was in front 2-0 and firmly dictating the match.

The Saints were not finished. Sophia Wollenberg added the third goal with 19:32 remaining in the second half, cashing in on a setup from Strotkamp to stretch the margin to 3-0. Strotkamp finished with a goal and an assist, while Leon and Wollenberg each found the net as St. Charles East showed balance and sharp execution in the attacking third.

Just as important, the Fighting Saints stayed organized defensively from start to finish. Goalkeeper Mia Olenek played all 80 minutes and recorded two saves to secure the shutout. The clean sheet was another encouraging sign for a St. Charles East team that has opened the year with consistent defensive work and poise in goal.

The 3-0 result matched the final score and pushed St. Charles East to 3-0-0 overall. With another home victory and another shutout performance, the Fighting Saints continued to build early-season momentum and gave the home crowd plenty to celebrate.
