St. Charles East breaks open tie in fourth, beats Glenbard North 7-1

St. Charles East turned a tied game into a comfortable road win Monday night, scoring four runs in the fourth inning and riding a strong start from Nate Moline to a 7-1 victory over Glenbard North in Carol Stream.
The decisive stretch came immediately after Glenbard North pulled even at 1-1 on a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the third. The Fighting Saints answered in the top of the fourth with a sharp, aggressive inning. Moline opened the frame with a single to left, and Andrew Evans followed with a bunt single. A throwing error allowed Moline to move to third, and after Evans stole second, Mason Daros lined a double that brought home both runners for a 3-1 lead. Later in the inning, Kyle LaRose singled to right to score Daros, then swiped both second and third before Dylan McCabe doubled to center to drive him in and make it 5-1.
Evans had given St. Charles East its first lead earlier in the second inning when he sent an 0-1 pitch to left field for a solo home run, his first of the season. He finished 3 for 4 with three runs scored, an RBI, a double and the homer. Moline also contributed at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a run scored, while Niko Vahmistrovs went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs. McCabe added two hits and an RBI, and both Daros and LaRose drove in runs as the Saints piled up timely offense throughout the middle innings.
St. Charles East added its final two runs in the fifth when Vahmistrovs drove in a pair to extend the lead to 7-1. The Saints also created pressure on the bases all day, stealing six bases. LaRose had three steals, Evans added two and James Feigleson stole one.
On the mound, Moline delivered another quality start and earned his third win of the year. He worked 5.2 innings, allowing three hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out six. Kyle LaRose closed it out in relief, covering the final 1.1 innings without allowing a hit or a walk and striking out one.
The win showcased the formula St. Charles East used all game, quick answers at the plate, pressure on the bases and steady pitching after Glenbard North briefly drew even in the third.
The Saints improve to 11-4 overall on the season and 3-1 in the Dukane Conference.
