St. Charles East FB Opens Season With 27-10 Win Over Metea Valley

St. Charles East overcame multiple lightning delays and struck early Friday, opening the 2026 season with a 27-10 victory over Metea Valley at Norris Stadium. The Saints established the decisive advantage with their early scoring and maintained a productive offensive rhythm on the way to a 17-point win.

The interruptions forced the Saints to remain patient and focused before and during the season opener. Once play resumed, St. Charles East did not allow the delays to disrupt its approach. The offense consistently found ways to put points on the board, while the defense held Metea Valley to 10 points and provided the support needed to protect the lead.

The victory sent St. Charles East into the new campaign at 1-0 and delivered an encouraging start for a team looking to build momentum. Playing in partly cloudy conditions with a game-time temperature of 82 degrees, the Saints handled both the weather-related uncertainty and the challenge from Metea Valley with composure.

Success extended throughout the St. Charles East football program. The sophomore team earned a 30-6 victory, giving the Saints another strong result. The freshmen followed Saturday morning with a 35-20 win, completing a season-opening sweep across all three levels and providing plenty for the program and school community to celebrate.

The Saints will carry that momentum into their next game at Highland Park on Friday, Aug. 28 against the Giants. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. After waiting out the lightning and answering with an early scoring surge against Metea Valley, St. Charles East enters the next challenge with a victory already secured and a strong opening weekend behind the entire program.
