St Charles East High School's Fighting Saints Lose to Fremd in Overtime Battle

The St Charles East High School Fighting Saints Girls Basketball team suffered a close defeat against the Fremd Vikings with a final score of 57-50 on January 3, 2026, during an overtime thrill at the Deerfield HS as part of the Grow the Game Showcase. Despite leading through various phases of the game, the Saints could not hold off Fremd in the final minutes.

Brooklyn Schilb starred as the game's top scorer with an impressive 23 points and earned the Player of the Game title for her exceptional performance. Supporting her, Kathlyn Brainbridge contributed significantly with 10 points. Other notable contributors included Addie Schilb with 6 points, Stella Trask with 4, and Ari Bigda with 2 points, rounding off a solid team effort despite the loss.

The showdown was one of 32 games taking place across six high school venues including Barrington, Deerfield, Evanston, Glenbard West, Naperville North, and Stevenson, highlighting the efforts of the Grow the Game initiative aimed at promoting opportunities and equality for women in basketball.

Looking ahead, the Fighting Saints are set to face Lake Park at Lake Park HS on January 7, 2026. The team hopes for a rebound to their winning ways in this next regular season encounter.
