St. Paul Beats Sheridan & Western Christian to Complete 6-0 League Doubleheader
St. Paul swept Sheridan 3-0 and Western Christian 3-0 Monday in St. Paul, Oregon, winning all six sets to secure a second victory in its first league doubleheader. The result completed a perfect day in which St. Paul won all six sets it played.
The back-row defense provided the foundation against Sheridan. Defensive specialist No. 7 Claudia Vachter and libero No. 22 Lola Hiller consistently kept rallies alive with their pursuit and effort, giving the offense additional chances to finish points. Their work helped St. Paul maintain control while closing out each set.
Claudia Vachter also delivered important touches with an aggressive defensive approach. She did not hesitate to dive for balls and extend plays that appeared ready to end. Lola Hillercomplemented that effort by transitioning quickly into coverage behind the hitters, protecting against blocks and deflections and helping prevent the ball from reaching the floor.
After winning the opening two sets, St. Paul closed the match behind a long service run from middle No. 11 Paislee McCain Closing the game with serving isn’t an easy task, but let alone an impressive one when accomplished.
The Sheridan and Western Christian sweep capped an unbeaten doubleheader and left St. Paul with a 6-0 record in sets during the tournament. The team will next travel to Amity for a tournament 8:00 AM PDT Friday, Sept. 4, 2026.
