CHICAGO, Ill. - Steinmetz College Prep struck for a touchdown on its first play and added a game-sealing interception return with 38 seconds remaining, defeating Marine Leadership Academy 14-0 on Saturday. The road shutout moved the Silver Streaks to 4-2 behind a defense that produced nine sacks and three interceptions.
Armoni Dean delivered the opening jolt on a double-reverse pass, finding Jeffrey Dean behind the defense for a 90-yard touchdown. Joshua Mendez added the two-point conversion to give Steinmetz an 8-0 lead before Marine Leadership Academy's defense had a chance to settle into the game.
Armoni Dean nearly added another long touchdown on special teams, returning a punt 102 yards before the play was called back. Steinmetz did not score again until the final minute, but its defense protected the lead throughout the afternoon. Kayden Jefferson led the pressure with four of the Silver Streaks' nine sacks and forced a fumble as Marine Leadership Academy struggled to sustain drives.
The Silver Streaks also shut down the passing game. Adam Molina recorded an interception, and Orlando Vaughn added another late in the game. Armoni Dean then supplied the final points with 38 seconds left in the fourth quarter, intercepting a pass and racing 90 yards for a touchdown that completed the shutout.
The contributions from Armoni Dean, Jeffrey Dean, Jefferson, Molina and Vaughn helped Steinmetz pair explosive scoring plays with a complete defensive performance. The Silver Streaks will return home to host Uplift on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. CDT for a game featuring both Homecoming and Senior Night.
