Steinmetz College Prep Announces New Football Leadership Team

Steinmetz College Prep has named Justin Anderson as its new head football coach and Richard Dean as assistant head coach, signaling a renewed focus on rebuilding the Silver Streaks football program. Both leaders are alumni of Steinmetz and former City Championship standouts, returning to guide the next generation of student-athletes where their own football careers began.

Anderson, a Class of 2005 graduate, was a standout quarterback who helped lead Steinmetz to the 2003–2004 City Championship under longtime coach Elbert Kern. After his high school career, he continued at Northern Illinois University, where he rushed for more than 1,200 yards in the 2007 season. As head coach, Anderson is expected to draw on that experience to install a disciplined, fundamentally sound approach and to emphasize both academic accountability and on-field performance.

Dean, a 2009 graduate, played a versatile role as a running back who contributed on both offense and defense and was part of the 2006–2007 City Championship team at Steinmetz. He went on to a successful professional Arena Football career, winning back-to-back championships and earning seven championship rings overall, including competition with a traveling USA National Team and international play in Tokyo. Dean ended his professional playing career in 2020 to focus on coaching and mentoring, and as assistant head coach he is expected to support program development, player mentorship and game-planning on both sides of the ball.

Both Anderson and Dean trace their early development to the Windy City Dolphins youth organization, where they began building their football foundation. They credit the organization’s structure, discipline and emphasis on fundamentals as central to their growth, with special recognition to Windy City Dolphins President Gerald K. Harris for his role in their progression as athletes and leaders. That background is expected to shape how they structure practice, develop younger players and promote long-term program stability at Steinmetz.

Now back at Steinmetz, the coaching duo aims to restore pride in the Silver Streaks program by reinforcing discipline, commitment and accountability. School leaders expect the new staff to reconnect the program with its championship history while preparing student-athletes to succeed in the classroom and beyond football. Anderson and Dean’s shared experience as former players, college and professional athletes, and now mentors positions them to establish a clear identity for Steinmetz football in the seasons ahead.
