Bishop Lynch rallies past Ursuline Academy 2-1 to reach TAPPS Division I girls semifinal

Bishop Lynch High School used a pair of second-half goals, including a late game-winner from Madison Murphy, to defeat Ursuline Academy 2-1 in the TAPPS Division I Girls North Semifinal on Tuesday in Round Rock, Texas.

Ursuline Academy struck first, capitalizing early to grab a 1-0 lead that held through halftime. The opener came from Mimi Flannigan, whose first-half finish put Ursuline in control and forced Bishop Lynch to chase the match over the final 40 minutes.

Bishop Lynch responded after the break, increasing pressure and finding the equalizer through forward Leticia Arellano. Her second-half goal pulled the Friars level at 1-1 and shifted momentum, as Bishop Lynch began to dictate possession and create repeated chances in the attacking third.

Murphy then delivered the decisive moment, scoring the game-winning goal in the second half to complete the comeback. Her strike gave Bishop Lynch its first lead of the match at 2-1 and proved enough to secure advancement, as the defense absorbed late pressure and protected the one-goal advantage to the final whistle.

Anchored by its second-half surge, Bishop Lynch moves on from the North Semifinal with a 2-1 victory, advancing in the TAPPS Division I girls bracket. Ursuline Academy exits after controlling the first half but conceding twice after the break to a Bishop Lynch side that finished stronger over the final 40 minutes.
