Independence Track and Field Opens Season With PR-Filled Indy Time Trial

Independence High School’s co-ed track and field program could not have asked for a better launch to the 2026 season at Saturday’s Indy Time Trial at 1776 Declaration Way in Thompson’s Station. While the meet was not team-scored, the Eagles treated it like a statement opener, piling up an incredible 168 personal records and setting an early tone of depth, effort and promise across both track and field events.
With many Independence athletes training consistently since December, the Time Trial offered a long-awaited chance to finally trade workouts for race bibs. The results showed that the work has been paying off. From sprints to distance to field events, Indy athletes used the home track to sharpen racing skills, test early-season fitness and, in many cases, shatter previous bests in front of teammates, families and a supportive community.
Thank you to our friends at Ravenwood HS, Page HS, and Liberty Creek HS that joined us!
