Avon volleyball edges North Ridgeville in five sets
Clare Freaney had a career-high 25 kills as host Avon came from behind to edge North Ridgeville Tuesday in the Southwestern Conference volleyball opener for each team. The Eagles, 2-0 overall, won by the scores of 25-27, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19, 15-10.
Freaney also had three aces for Avon, Peyton Reinart had 12 kills and four solo blocks, and Kara Hrikovec added nine kills and three aces. Avon had 13 aces as a team, led by Addy Smith with five. In addition, Ally Brediger led the team with 22 digs and Madison Demmerle was tops with 33 assists. Sophomore Maddie Kacur also played well for the Eagles with 16 assists and 12 digs.
Next up for Avon is a home match with SWC foe Olmsted Falls on Thursday.
