Avon Eagles Wrestling Faces Defeat Against Lake Shoremen in SWC Match

The Avon High School Eagles varsity wrestling team faced off against the Lake Shoremen in a Southwest Conference (SWC) showdown on Feb. 1, 2024, at their home location in Avon. The Eagles struggled against the Lake Shoremen and fell with a final dual meet score of 14-52. Notable performances for the Eagles were seen in the form of Niko Kalamaras, who earned a convincing win with a score of 16-4. Additionally, Adam Schumacher showcased his commitment by pinning his opponent. Tony Morosko also established his dominance, securing a 16-7 victory. Despite this, the Eagles were unable to overcome the Lake Shoremen's strong lineup. The match highlighted the work that the Avon squad needs to put in to reach their goals. Looking ahead, the Avon Eagles aim to come back stronger in their next challenge. Coach Jayne expressed his gratitude for the senior class and the positive impact they have brought to the program. He said, "I am so thankful for all the hard work and dedication that this Senior Class has given to our program. They are all such great kids!" The wrestling team's current record in the SWC stands at 5-2. The Eagles are set to face Bay and Willard at their next event, a tri-match slated for Feb. 3 at Bay High School.
