Eagles sweep past Amherst to continue undefeated march through season
The Avon volleyball team swept its way past host Amherst Thursday, clinching no worse than a tie for the Southwestern Conference title. The Eagles, 19-0 overall and 12-0 in SWC action, hold a two-game lead over Olmsted Falls in the SWC standings with two matches remaining. Bethany Sherwood topped the winners with 13 kills, while Londyn Stone added 10 kills and Lily Hamilton had 20 assists, six kills and two aces. In addition, Ally Brediger had 21 digs, and Madison Demmerle had 23 assists. The Eagles, who are ranked third in the state in Division II, play at rival Avon Lake on Tuesday and then host Elyria on Thursday before completing the regular season on October 15 with a match at Magnificat, which is 16-3 and is the top-ranked team in the state in Division II.
