Joe Magill | Avon High School | Oct 2, 2026

The Avon Eagles continued their late-season resurgence, winning their fifth volleyball match in six outings Thursday with a sweep of host Berea-Midpark. With the 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 victory Avon is now 10-4 overall and 8-3 in Southwestern Conference play.

For the second consecutive match, Peyton Reinart led the way for the Eagles with 16 kills. The senior was very efficient with her hitting, making just two errors in 25 attacks, meaning more than half of her attempts were successful. She was backed by Clare Freaney with nine kills.

Madison Demmerle topped Avon with 22 assists, and she tied for the team lead in aces with Addy Smith and Lucy Lee with two each. Ally Brediger had 32 serve receptions with just one error and also had 11 digs, while Maryn Maxey had 12 digs and Smith had 10. In addition, Lauren Bauer had 18 assists.

The Eagles will host SWC foe Midview on Tuesday before traveling to Mentor Thursday for a matchup of teams that reached their respective state finals last year. While Avon won the Division II championship over Whitehouse Anthony Wayne in four sets, Mentor fell in the Division I finals to Cincinnati Seton in three.
