Volleyball team falls to Holland Springfield in four sets

Joe Magill | Avon High School | Apr 29, 2026

Avon’s volleyball match at Holland Springfield is a prime example of how statistics can sometimes be deceiving. In looking at the stats, it would appear the Eagles won Tuesday’s match. However, they lost by the scores of 25-23, 13-25, 30-28, 25-23 to fall to 13-4.

The stats are relatively even between the two teams, with Avon actually holding a slight advantage in many of the categories. In fact, the Eagles actually scored more points than their hosts, 99-93, but still lost the match.

Freshman Noah Mai led the attack for Avon with 14 kills. He also added 21 digs. John Ling had 12 kills and seven blocks, and Landon Gomez had nine kills and 18 digs. In addition, Kyle Partridge had six kills, 23 digs and five blocks, including three solos, while Logan Lam had five kills and 18 assists, Finn Petzinger had five kills, and Keegan Tarkany had 26 assists.

The Eagles will be in action again on Thursday when they host Bard Early College.
