Bay Girls Lacrosse falls to Hoover despite balanced scoring effort

Hoover Girls Lacrosse pulled away on Saturday and handed Bay an 16-11 road loss, overcoming a strong offense from the Rockets that featured five different goal scorers and multiple contributors in the passing game.

Layla Meaux led Bay with four goals, while Gracie Fitchpatrick added three and Avery Schriner finished with two goals and an assist. Jill Tennant contributed a goal and two assists, Nolie Piktel scored once, and Hadley Clark added an assist as the Rockets kept pace for stretches before Hoover created separation down the stretch.

Bay's attack showed balance throughout the match, with the Rockets generating 11 goals through a mix of individual finishes and setup play. Meaux provided the top scoring punch, Fitchpatrick gave Bay another steady option around the cage, and Schriner's all-around production helped keep pressure on the Hoover defense. Tennant's two assists helped drive that offense, and Bay consistently found ways to turn possessions into chances.

Sophia Crimaldi finished with six saves in goal for the Rockets and helped Bay stay within striking distance against a Hoover offense that eventually reached 16 goals. The Rockets continued to battle on the defensive end, but Hoover's late push proved decisive as Bay was unable to fully erase the gap.

Bay now turns its attention to its next scheduled game Monday against Strongsville. Even in the loss, the Rockets got productive performances across the lineup, particularly from Meaux, Fitchpatrick, Schriner and Tennant, and those contributions give Bay a foundation to build on heading into the next matchup.
