Ben Boka | Bay High School | Apr 18, 2025

In a tightly contested game on April 17, 2025, the Bay High School Varsity Rockets faced off against the North Olmsted High School Varsity Eagles, ultimately falling with a final score of 6-9. Despite a valiant effort on a sunny away game day, the Rockets could not secure the win against their rivals, the Eagles. The Rockets' lineup showed promising performances with Trevor Ormsby #6, Caleb Rinehart #14, Ethan Sedivec #18, and Jackson Ziemnik #7 contributing significantly to the runs. Ziemnik stood out with two runs scored going 2-4 with 2RBIs and a 2B, teammate Charlie Rodgers scoring a run and going 2-4 at the plate with a 2B and Johnny Veverka also going 2-4 with a 2B. Key RBI were delivered by Ethan Sedivec (1), Ziemnik (2), Rodgers (2), and Veverka (1), highlighting the team's offensive efforts. Starting pitcher Travis Ropelewski pitched 4.2 innings, striking out three and allowing four earned runs. Relief efforts saw Andrew Liatti and Ethan Sedivec take the mound, with Trevor Ormsby closing briefly with a strikeout. Despite the team's strong batting and strategic plays, including Jack McManamon's crucial sacrifice bunt and stolen bases by Ormsby (2) and Ziemnik (1), the Rockets struggled against a tough Eagles lineup. Recognitions were given to J Veverka, J Ziemnik, and C Rodgers for achieving three total bases each. Ethan Sedivec also had notable hits including a single and a triple, contributing significantly to the team's total bases count. Looking ahead, the Rockets will host Elyria Catholic at Bay High School on April 21, 2025. The team looks to improve its current record of 3-4 and 0-2 in conference play. The Rockets are gearing up to bounce back with a strong performance in their forthcoming game.
