Rocky River scored in each of the first three innings and rode a dominant outing from Reagan Kane to a 10-0 win over Bay Softball on Wednesday at Rocky River City School District.

The decisive stretch came early. Rocky River opened the scoring in the first inning when Elleana Biscardi drew a walk that forced in a run. The Pirates added four more runs in the second to build control, using a single by Maggie Heigle, a sacrifice fly from Rylie Quaiser and another run-scoring single by Elizabeth Smalley to extend the lead. Rocky River added another run in the third when Carly Ewing lined a single down the right-field line, making it 6-0.

Bay had trouble breaking through against Kane, who allowed one hit over five innings, struck out 11 and walked one. Caitie Petersen accounted for the Rockets' lone hit, finishing 1-for-2 at the plate. Bay could not generate a sustained rally against a pitcher who consistently worked ahead and kept the Rockets off balance.

Lucy Corbett took the loss for Bay. She pitched four innings and allowed 10 runs, six earned, on nine hits with seven walks. Rocky River showed patience throughout the afternoon, drawing seven walks as a team and turning traffic on the bases into early scoring chances.

Smalley helped lead the middle of Rocky River's lineup, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Smalley, Kane and Ewing each collected two hits for the Pirates, while Heigle drew two walks. For Bay, Petersen's hit was the team's top offensive highlight in a game played in light rain and 49-degree conditions.

The loss came despite Bay battling through difficult weather on the road. The Rockets will look to regroup after a game in which Rocky River's early offense and strong pitching set the tone from the outset.
