Bay High School’s Rockets broke the game open early and finished it late, beating Normandy 7-2 on May 12 behind a five-hit performance from junior Ethan Sedivec and six steady innings from freshman Ben Schrock.

Bay took control with one run in the first inning, then created separation with a three-run third that pushed the lead to 4-0. Normandy made its move in the sixth, scoring twice to trim the deficit to 4-2, but the Rockets answered with three insurance runs in the seventh to put the conference game away.

Sedivec turned in one of Bay’s biggest offensive performances of the season, going 5 for 5 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base. He was in the middle of the third-inning rally and helped set the tone for a Rockets lineup that finished with 11 hits. Ryan Egan added two RBIs, and Trevor Ormsby contributed two hits as Bay repeatedly put pressure on Normandy’s defense.

Schrock handled the work on the mound for Bay, earning the win after throwing 6.0 innings. He allowed four hits and two earned runs, walked four and struck out three over 103 pitches. Normandy’s only scoring came in the sixth inning, but Schrock limited further damage and kept Bay in front until the offense added on.

Ormsby closed the game with a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one hit as Bay secured the final margin. The Rockets finished with seven runs, 11 hits and one error, while Normandy had two runs, five hits and three errors. Bay also worked five walks and stranded 12 runners, but Sedivec’s perfect day at the plate and Schrock’s outing gave the Rockets more than enough to finish a 7-2 win.
