Westlake pulls away after Bay Baseball ties game early in 11-3 win

Westlake broke open a tie game with a five-run stretch across the third and fourth innings Monday night and handed Bay a 11-3 loss in a road matchup at 27830 Hilliard Blvd.
The Demons took control early with two runs in the second inning, but the Rockets answered in the third to pull even at 2-2. Bay’s response was fueled by timely hits from the middle of the lineup. Senior Trevor Ormsby delivered a double and drove in a run while also scoring once. Junior Ethan Sedivec finished 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Josh Cseh added a 1-for-3 night with an RBI as the Rockets accounted for their three runs.
The turning point came after Bay erased the early deficit. Westlake pushed across three runs in the third inning, then added three more in the fourth to create separation. Bay could not recover from that surge as the Demons continued to build on the lead over the final innings.
Travis Ropelewski made the start for the Rockets and worked three innings. He took the loss after allowing five earned runs, striking out three and walking one. Andrew Liatti followed with three innings in relief, striking out three while surrendering five earned runs. Charlie Rodgers was also credited at 1-1 at the plate among Bay’s individual standouts.
Despite the result, Bay showed some offensive life in the middle innings, particularly when it answered Westlake’s second-inning push with a rally of its own in the third. Sedivec, Ormsby and Cseh each drove in runs, giving the Rockets a brief chance to reset the game before Westlake’s offense took over.
Bay will look to turn the page quickly as the two teams are scheduled to meet again Tuesday, this time with the Rockets set to host Westlake in the return conference matchup.
