Buckeye girls top Rocky River 96-37 in CWC dual meet

Buckeye’s girls track and field team turned in a strong all-around performance Wednesday, defeating Rocky River 96-37 in a CWC dual meet at Rocky River. The Bucks piled up event victories across the track and in the field, with several athletes leading the way in a meet that showcased Buckeye’s depth.

Blakely Herman was one of the top individual performers for Buckeye, sweeping the hurdles with first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.5 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 53.2. Kylee Kash added a win in the 100 dash with a time of 13.4, while Grace Pronik took first in the 200 in 29.7. Brooke Posatiere also delivered a victory for the Bucks in the 400, crossing in 1:08.

Buckeye also controlled the distance events. Hayleigh Kreeger won the 1600 in 6:23, and Emily Goelz claimed first in the 3200 with a time of 15:33. Those finishes helped the Bucks steadily build their team advantage over Rocky River, which was short-handed because of spring break but still competed throughout the meet.

In the field events, Ellen Steppenbacker cleared 11 feet to win the pole vault, and Kerrigan Graves took first in the shot put with a throw of 25 feet, 7 inches. The combination of sprint wins, distance victories and field-event points gave Buckeye a decisive edge from start to finish.

The dual-meet result added another strong outing for Buckeye early in the season and reflected balance across multiple event groups. With wins in the hurdles, sprints, distance races, pole vault and shot put, the Bucks left Rocky River with a commanding team result and a long list of standout performances.
