Detroit Cristo Rey’s Lady Wolves sent Senior Night out in style Wednesday, earning a 3-0 victory over Academy of Americas at Historic Fort Wayne for the program’s first win of the season. The decisive push came from senior Sofia Garcia, who capped her senior campaign with two goals in a performance that set the tone for a memorable evening.

Garcia led the attack with a pair of finishes, while freshman Jocelyn Leon added the Wolves’ other goal to round out the scoring. On a night built around celebrating seniors Sofia Garcia, Karla Martinez and Valeria Orozco, the Wolves matched that emotion with sharp play in the final third and steady pressure throughout the match.

Detroit Cristo Rey was just as strong on the defensive end. Senior defender Karla Martinez anchored a stellar back line that kept Academy of Americas off the scoreboard, with freshman Alison Vasquez Gusman, junior Natalie Garcia and freshman Yaretzi Gil Gonzalez all making key contributions. Their organization and effort helped the Wolves control dangerous moments and preserve the shutout.

Behind that defense, freshman Kaidence Woods came up with three direct saves to finish off the clean sheet. Every stop helped maintain the Wolves’ momentum, and the team responded with the kind of composed, connected performance that reflected both its growth and its energy on a celebratory home night.

The result gave Cristo Rey a rewarding breakthrough and a fitting ending to Senior Night. With Garcia delivering two goals, Leon adding another, and the defense turning in one of its strongest efforts of the year, the Lady Wolves gave their seniors a victory to remember and a night worthy of going out on top.
