Elgin High School Comets Cross Country Gears Up for a Promising Season
Elgin High School's Cross Country team, the Comets, led by Coach Jeff Ferrell entering his tenth year, is setting the pace for a promising season. With the first complete girls team in five years and efforts to build the boys team, the outlook for the Comets is optimistic. The Comets' season schedule is packed, beginning with a meet at Northmor on August 18th. Key meets include competitions at places like Colonel Crawford, Harding, and the Seneca East. The challenging schedule culminates in the district tournament on October 19th, marking critical points of both competition and development. Coach Ferrell expressed his enthusiasm for the season, emphasizing the potential of the girls team, based on their excellent track performances. Despite currently having only one boy on the team, Ferrell is hopeful for additional members to join and strengthen the squad. The school's administration, represented by Mr. James, shares the optimism, looking forward to the team's growth and a strong performance in the state tournament. With strategic training and a focus on team building, the Comets Cross Country team aims to leave a significant mark this season.
