Elgin High School Comets Volleyball Team Gears Up for a Promising Season

As the volleyball season approaches, the Elgin High School Comets are poised to make a strong impression under the new leadership of Coach Caitlin Gracely. With a commendable past record and a fully packed schedule for the 2025 season, the team looks forward to building on their previous successes. In her inaugural year, Coach Gracely takes the reins with a career outlook brimming with anticipation. Despite a coaching record just starting out, her energy and strategic mindset are set to invigorate the Comets' varsity volleyball squad. Last year's solid performance concluded with an overall record of 17-7 and an 8-1 in conference play, tying for the Northwest Central Conference Title. This backdrop provides a fertile ground for Coach Gracely's ambitious vision. Notably, the team saw the graduation of key player Delainy Boles but retains significant talent including Jordan Wall, Maycee Muselin, Kendra Appelfeller, and Kadence Gear, each bringing a distinguished set of skills to the court. The Comets will also have a deep bench this season. This will allow a lot of girls to get quality time on the court this year. The Comets will also have a full JV and Freshman team this year as well! The upcoming season is packed with critical encounters, starting with a scrimmage on August 7, 2025, at Centerburg High School. A significant matchup to highlight is their first home game on August 16 against Mount Gilead at the Elgin High School Gymnasium. Their first league game follows up a week later against Hardin Northern, setting the tone for the conference challenges ahead. Moreover, the Elgin Classic tournament on September 20 promises fierce competition as it welcomes eight varsity and JV teams. Mr. James, a school administrator, expressed high hopes for the team, emphasizing the potential for this season to be particularly memorable given the new dynamics brought in by Coach Gracely. Together with the returning players and a supportive school environment, the Elgin High School Comets are not just aiming for success—they are preparing diligently to assure it.
