Elgin High School Comets Girls Basketball Prepares for a Promising Season
As the Elgin High School Comets gear up for the upcoming girls basketball season, there's a palpable sense of anticipation under the leadership of new head coach, Coach Sager. Entering his first season, Coach Sager brings fresh energy to a team that closed last season with a commendable 14-9 record, including a 6-2 league record and a third-place finish in the NWCC.
The Comets have a busy schedule ahead, beginning with their home opener against Fairbanks on November 21 at the Elgin Gymnasium. Key games to watch include Senior Night on February 2, where they will face Mt. Gilead at home, and an exciting event on December 27 where the team will play at Ohio Northern University.
The team has lost significant players like Delainy Boles and Emily Bishop to graduation. However, this season also sees the return of several key players, including Jordan Wall, Maycee Muslin, Madison Hill, Ella Abbott, and Halie Leonard. With four returning starters, Coach Sager expressed his optimism, stating, 'We have a very experienced team with four returning starters. I am very excited to see what this team can do this season.'
