Elgin High School Comets Secure Victory Over Wynford Royals in Volleyball Showdown
In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, the Elgin High School Comets, the girls' varsity volleyball team, triumphed over the Wynford Royals on September 15, 2025, at Elgin High School. The Comets won the non-league match with a final score of Elgin 3, Wynford 1.
The Comets set the tone early in the first set, claiming a decisive 25-15 victory. However, the Royals countered in the second set, edging out the Comets 25-22. Not deterred, Elgin regained their composure to narrowly win the third set 25-23, followed by a dominant performance in the fourth set, clinching it with a score of 25-13. This win was pivotal in solidifying the Comets' strong season record of 9-2.
Key performances by the Comets included Kadence Gear who led with impressive offense, tallying 18 kills and 3 aces. Jordan Wall also made a significant impact with 11 kills. Defensively, Kendra Appelfeller was a standout with 2 solo blocks and an additional 19 assists. Jocelyn Wall contributed notably with 13 digs.
