Elgin High School Comets Shine at North Union Invite

The Elgin High School Comets made an impressive showing at the North Union Invite on September 27, 2025, with standout performances in both the high school girls and middle school boys divisions of the cross country event held at North Union High School.

In the high school girls category, Reece Lanier led the Comets with a personal best of 20:59, securing 9th place and moving to 3rd on Elgin's Cross Country Record Board. An outstanding achievement that highlights her continuous improvement and dedication to the sport. Following her, Reagan Schnipke crossed the finish line with a time of 24:54, claiming the 26th spot, and Cadence Abbott completed the course in 28:30, taking 37th place. These performances brought considerable attention to the team's efforts and skill.

The middle school boys also showcased their potential, with Liam Canterbury setting a personal record with a time of 13:04, which earned him 12th place in a competitive field. His achievement underlines the growing talent in Elgin High School's younger athletes, setting a hopeful trajectory for future competitions.

The next challenge for the Comets is quickly approaching, as they are set to participate in the Waynesfield-Goshen Night Meet at Waynesfield-Goshen High School on October 4, 2025. The team will look to continue their momentum from the North Union Invite as they prepare for another opportunity to showcase their prowess and teamwork.
