Eastwood broke the game open early and Fostoria could not recover in a 15-2 road loss Monday in an NBC varsity baseball contest at Pemberville. The Eagles built separation against the Redmen and controlled the game behind a steady outing from starter Cam Schumaker.

The decisive stretch came in the opening three innings, when Eastwood pushed across nine runs and forced Fostoria to play from behind. Jayden Sirmons took the loss for the Redmen. The left-hander worked three innings, allowing nine runs, six earned, on seven hits with one strikeout and two walks. Schumaker kept Fostoria's lineup in check for Eastwood, giving up three hits and two runs, both unearned, over five innings while striking out one and walking one.

Fostoria finished with three hits on the night. Blake Hernandez provided the Redmen's biggest offensive contribution, going 1-for-1 and driving in both runs. Emmanuel Jimenez-Reza and Dawson Smith also collected hits for Fostoria, which had limited chances to string together offense against Schumaker and the Eastwood defense.

One of Fostoria's defensive highlights came on a double play, a rare clean moment in a game that otherwise tilted toward the home side. The Redmen continued to compete through the middle innings, but Eastwood's early production created too much ground to make up. With Fostoria's two runs ruled unearned, Eastwood was able to avoid a larger setback on the mound even when the Redmen did get runners aboard.

The loss dropped Fostoria out of step in Monday's road matchup, but the Redmen will have a quick chance to respond. Fostoria is scheduled to return home Wednesday to face Oak Harbor at5pm
