Fostoria posted a 5-0 boys tennis win over Bucyrus on Monday, completing a road sweep in what the program called the battle of the Redmen at Bucyrus.

The Redmen secured the team result with straight-set victories across the lineup. In singles, Landan Sherman earned a 6-4, 6-4 win, Gulmaro Vargas-Tovias turned in a 6-1, 6-1 decision, and Jayceon Phillips added a 6-4, 6-1 victory. The three singles wins gave Fostoria steady control of the match and set the tone early.

Fostoria also finished the sweep in doubles. Reece Blair and Royal Ferguson delivered a 6-4, 7-5 win, closing out a competitive second set to keep the shutout intact. Jason Haase and Drake Hay completed the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-4 victory, giving the Redmen wins in every contested flight that was reported.

Coach Jared Fleming said " Proud of our young men for their great effort tonight on the road!"

The result reflected a balanced team effort, with every listed Fostoria winner taking the match in two sets. Vargas-Tovias had the most lopsided singles scoreline of the day, while Sherman and Phillips each handled tighter openings before finishing in straight sets. In doubles, Blair and Ferguson had to work through the closest stretch of the match in their 7-5 second set, and Haase and Hay provided another firm result.

Fostoria's 5-0 sweep moved the day decisively in its favor at Bucyrus, with the Redmen getting production throughout the singles and doubles lineup. The match was played Monday at Bucyrus, 900 W. Perry St., and Fostoria left with a complete team result built on five straight-set performances.
