Fostoria broke through for its first win of the season Friday, using a productive day at the plate and a strong outing from winning pitcher Boston Trent to beat Lima Senior 15-8 at Grant Jackson Field.

The Redmen set the tone with steady offensive pressure and never let Lima Senior fully climb back into the game. Blake Hernandez led the way with three RBIs, while Dawson Smith and Rey Varela each drove in two runs. Fostoria also got key hits from Hernandez, Sergio Salazar and Emmanuel Jimenez-Reza as the lineup kept traffic on the bases throughout the afternoon.

In a game that featured plenty of offense, Trent gave Fostoria the stability it needed on the mound to finish off the win. The Redmen supported him with timely hitting and turned several scoring chances into crooked numbers, building enough separation to stay in front despite Lima Senior putting up eight runs.

Hernandez's run production stood out in the middle of the order, and Smith and Varela added to the attack as Fostoria continued to answer when Lima Senior threatened. Salazar and Jimenez-Reza contributed important hits that helped extend innings and keep pressure on the defense.

The 15-run output marked Fostoria's best offensive showing of the young season and delivered an early confidence boost for the Redmen. After opening the year in search of a breakthrough, Fostoria left Friday with its first victory and a formula it can build on, solid pitching, timely hits and production spread throughout the lineup.
