FOSTORIA, Ohio - Fostoria collected victories in the top two singles matches, but Oak Harbor won the remaining three varsity courts to edge the Redmen 3-2 Wednesday afternoon at Fostoria High School. The close girls tennis dual featured a three-set comeback at first singles and a straight-set Fostoria victory at second singles.

Morrigan Flinders delivered Fostoria’s most dramatic performance at first singles. After dropping the opening set 6-4, Morrigan Flinders responded by taking the second set 6-4 to force a deciding third set. Morrigan Flinders then carried that momentum into the finish, winning the final set 6-2 to complete the comeback and secure one of the Redmen’s two team points.

Briar Shaver gave Fostoria another strong result at second singles. Shaver prevailed 6-4 in a competitive opening set before taking control of the second, winning 6-2 to close out the match in straight sets. At third singles, Aaliyah Campos faced a difficult matchup and fell 6-0, 6-3 as Oak Harbor earned its lone singles victory.

The doubles courts decided the team result. Fostoria’s first doubles pairing of Lilly Bernal and Hayley Edwards lost 6-0, 6-0. At second doubles, Bella Snowden and Chloe Kitchen showed improvement in the second set but were defeated 6-0, 6-2. Those two doubles points, combined with the third singles result, allowed Oak Harbor to reach the three victories needed to claim the dual.

Although the varsity result went to Oak Harbor, Fostoria’s two singles wins highlighted the afternoon. Morrigan Flinders demonstrated resilience by recovering from an opening-set loss, while Shaver produced the team’s lone straight-set victory. The junior varsity competition was also closely contested, ending in a 3-3 tie and completing an afternoon in which the teams split eight of the 11 varsity and JV matches.
